For the best possible success growing any type of plants, begin with healthy soil. We'll explore what makes a soil healthy and how to create it yourself.  Compost is an amazing addition to the soil, and you'll learn how to make it. We'll talk about the good, the bad and the ugly when it comes to compost containers and piles. Learn how to start a new bed easily using the lasagna gardening technique. Soil testing will also be discussed.

This will start off in the classroom and end up in the gardens for some hands-on demonstrations - all located at The Chicken Scratch Garden at 33 W. Battle Creek Street in downtown Galesburg, Michigan. Class occurs rain or shine. Class will run about 2 hours.
