This event is being held during our annual Rock & Gem Festival, so arrive early and bring a chair. There will be lots of vendors selling rock and gem items, live music, yummy food, classes and other hands-on things for the kids. The event goes from 10am to 6pm on May 6th. Join Western Michigan University’s Geology Club to learn about the basics of geology! Specifically,
· What is Geology?
· Where is it used in everyday life?
· How to identify a rock?
· What is hydrogeology and why is it important?
This class is designed to get kids excited about geology and introduce them to fun concepts they probably will not see in school. Participants will have the opportunity to see cool fossils, dig up and identify their own rock, and complete a hands on hydrogeology activity. This will be held outside under a tent, but please BRING A CHAIR.
